Just Got Back From Up And Getting A Classic Ford Mustang
April 3, 2010 | In: General
I really haven’t so much had time to talk on my blog nearly as often as I might like, because of the fact that I’ve been running around town with my Dad manage his wild & crazy midlife crisis. Well, you might think it’s not quite as nuts as it might be. You see, how he showed up was to go and dress himself up like the Fonz, and storm over to my crib and casually inform me, in his jazziest possible vocal tone: “Put some shades on, boy, we’re going to be scouting for some classic Mustangs for sale. You heard that right, son, it’s about time I get myself one.”
So next we were on our way to some of those creepy vintage car places that I’m always mostly convinced are not quite on the up and up, and I am just awed my crazy padre wrote a check on the spot, for a very well-preserved classic mustang. I mean, it really is one hell of a machine. It sounded really nice as well.
Notice that I said about that sound in a past tense. It sounded perfect for a short time, at which point it became silent. My Dad maintains that it’s a really quick fix and he just needs the right part. Only thing is, it’s not as straightforward to get your hands on 1965 Mustang parts as it was like 30 years ago, but my pop informs me there’s a pretty big aftermarket for them to this day. From what I’m told the nicest way to buy parts for classic Mustangs is actually internet auctions, because you can find them all refurbished and occasionally even brand new. They’re not necessarily that inexpensive, though… After all, they are thirty year old car parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… He could have bought a mail-order bride.
